Avoiding Pixelation - Vector Art
March 25, 2017 | Varun Mittal
In this tutorial I will be telling you about a new method of creating and using images! This method is of Vector Graphics. Vector Graphics possess a unique ability that they can be seen the same way in whichever size they are used.
How it Works?
Unlike raster graphics (JPGs, PNG and Bitmaps), vector graphics are not made up of a grid of pixels. Instead, vector graphics are comprised of paths, which are defined by a start and end point, along with other points. These paths can be used to create simple drawings or complex diagrams. Since vector-based images are not made up of dots, they can be scaled to any size without being pixelated.
How can it be done?
Inkscape, a free and open source software continues to dominate the market of Vector Art and is also the favorite of World Wide Web Consortium (W3C). Therefore first we need to download Inkscape from it's official site.
STEP 1: Open the raster version of your image which you want to vectorize (preferably any clipart, logo or an image with definite boundaries)
STEP 2: Press Shift + Alt + B to open the vectorization menu.
STEP 3: Select one of the options based on what you want to focus on.
STEP 4: Click DONE and it's complete!
